Announcing SOLID GOLD, our new music library

It’s a music library curated for editors; a place to browse expertly crafted (and organically created) instrumental music to license for any creative project.

Many of the services that support media production are stuck in a video-first model, or are extremely limited and widely used. Many editors, producers and studios tap the stock, stale libraries. There is, without a doubt, room for something new. We’ve built SOLID GOLD to provide a fresh, carefully curated resource for production music that is high quality and artist-oriented.

Check it out here!

The mentor for the 2021 Pod Pod is Neena Pathak (The Daily, NY Times)!

Gilded Audio is closing out the year with some big wins

Our Managing Director, Andy Chugg produced two tracks on Moses Sumney’s beautiful album, Grae, which we like to think lended to the release being chosen as a high ranking album of the year by NY Times and Pitchfork. Andrew worked with the band Yvette and Moses Sumney himself to record, and edit, hours of improvisational material into what eventually became the tracks “Virile” and “Conveyor,” which you can hear below.

The Guardian Chose OTHERtone As Their Podcast Of The Week!

Happy launch day to OTHERtone! The first two episodes, featuring Rosalía and Zendaya (Euphoria, Dune) are up today! The response to the new season has been resoundingly glowing, and in an article published on Friday, December 2, The Guardian  named OTHERtone as one of their best shows of the week saying:

“Pharrell Williams has no problem bringing in the big names for his new podcast, a spin-off of his Apple Music show. Malcolm Gladwell, Virgil Abloh and Zendaya are lined up to join Williams and co-hosts Scott Vener and Fam-Lay for their fly-on-the-wall conversations. First up is Latin superstar and collaborator Rosalia, and Williams pulls off the impressive feat of coming across as absolutely genuine even when he compares her to the sun. “Your ambition is a plane, you gotta make sure it lands,” he says in one of his many highly creative Pharrell-isms.”

Keep an eye here as we update you on new episodes and press. Lot’s of exciting stuff to come!

Great Press Is Flying In For OTHERtone!

On December 1st OTHERtone announced their return with a trailer giving a sneak peek at their upcoming episodes. The latest Gilded Audio production will have new episodes every Monday and feature exciting guests like Zendaya, Rosalía, Clairo, Tristan Harris, and Jaron Lanier. Rolling Stone, Complex, and Vulture helped spread the news, and we’re excited to share the buzz resulting from each episode as they’re released.

OTHERtone is a glimpse into the minds of our culture’s unicorns, and how they think about life, art, and everything in between. As the “soup to nuts” production team for the show, Gilded is delighted to have a hand in what we know will be one of the most exciting music podcasts of late 2020, well into the New Year.

The AV Club Gave A Great Review To ‘The Pet!’

Reviews for our new NSFW neo-western, The Pet, are rolling in! Morgan McNaught reviewed it for AV Club and called it “a strange and horny corner of the podcast world,” and “densely atmospheric, like molasses, coating the story in a mythological Americana.”

2020 Signal to Noise Winner!

We’re excited to announce the winner of the 2020 Signal to Noise Award! Naeema Torres’ audio documentary, Land of Lincoln, will examine the way Black History has been documented and put on display in the United States through the legacy of The Crenshaw House, also known as the Old Slave House. The audio documentary will cover the folklore surrounding the Crenshaw house, its relationship to slavery and its hand in the flourishing of Illinois, local free black communities, and the ghost stories that still permeate the area. Thanks to our amazing partner UnionDocs for helping us present the award again this year. And congratulations, Naeema!

‘The Pet’ Launches

A dirty secondhand couch, stained with God knows what. Damp bathmats, peppered with suspicious crumbs. A clowder of cats, doing their best to carve out a decent existence for themselves, while angling for ownership of the apartment’s sole land mined litter box. You look at the melancholy scene around you, then side-eye your soon to be ex thinking “he might deserve this life, but we sure as shit don’t.”

This is The Pet, a wholesome NSFW neo-western audio piece, available now exclusively on Bandcamp.

With a vivid performance by Mara Wilson (Matilda, Mrs. Doubtfire, Welcome to Night Vale) as “Heaven,” a salvage store worker who steals an ex-lovers cat and sets out on an adventure, and haunting cowboy-western music by Brad Smith (Blind Melon, Abandon Jalopy), The Pet is unlike anything you’ve heard before.

The Pet is also available via a *very* limited run of 12” vinyl. Get one while you can, and grab a tote bag and Gilded Audio sweatshirt while you’re at it.

Innovation Uncovered Launches

The latest podcast to receive our production love is Innovation Uncovered. It launched in June and is about innovations in some pretty important areas of our lives (especially now) – like wine, music, design, and film! Woah! Our favorite episode is out July 13th and discusses “how artificial intelligence and other new technologies promise to upend the music industry.”
